Notice on Epidemic Prevention and Control for China-bound Travelers

Starting April 29th, inbound travelers may opt to take antigen tests within 48 hours before departure other than nucleic acid tests. Airlines will no longer be inspecting pre-departure testing results. The Embassy of PR China has put together “Guidelines on Epidemic Prevention and Control for China-bound Travelers” (in the attachment) to facilitate the preparation process for travelers before boarding. Travelers are asked to read the guidelines thoroughly and act accordingly to avoid any inconveniences that might otherwise arise.

Guidelines on Epidemic Prevention and Control for China-bound Travelers

1. Testing requirements: Travelers must take a nuclear acid test or an antigen test using the self-testing kit. Travelers who test negative are allowed to proceed to China, whereas travelers with a positive result are required to wait until they test negative to continue traveling.

2. Customs declaration: After testing negative, travelers need to declare the negative test result to China Customs by filling out the Health Declaration Form either on the WeChat mini-program of China Customs, at the website:https://htdecl.chinaport.gov.cn/htdeclweb/home/pages/index/index.html, or via the China Customs Application.

3. Airlines will not be inspecting the results of the nuclear acid or antigen tests.

4. Inspection upon entry: Travelers are required to complete customs clearance procedures using the Health Declaration Code after arriving at the border crossing. Those who pass the entry inspection and have no abnormalities in the Health Declaration Code will be allowed entry into the social sphere. China Customs will conduct a sampling inspection according to the number of travelers. Travelers with abnormalities in the Health Declaration Code or symptoms such as fever need to cooperate with the customs in epidemiological inspections, medical examinations, etc., as well as consent to the testing of relevant infectious diseases.

5. After-entry epidemic prevention and control: After entry into China, travelers are obliged to strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control requirements of the place of the visit.
