On August 8, Ambassador Li Fan met with Mr. Samir Avdić, the newly appointed Mayor of Sarajevo.

Ambassador Li congratulated Mayor Avdić on his assumption of office, noting that Sarajevo, a city of rich history and culture, is a must-visit destination for Chinese tourists traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina. She highlighted that Sarajevo has long maintained friendly exchanges with Chinese cities such as Tianjin, making positive contributions to the development of bilateral relations. This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Chinese Embassy stands ready to continue serving as a bridge to promote broader local-level exchanges and cooperation between Sarajevo and Chinese partners, thus fostering closer ties between the peoples of both countries.

Mayor Avdić expressed the willingness to further strengthen cooperation with Chinese localities. He was pleased to see the growing number of Chinese tourists visiting Sarajevo and voiced his hope to enhance the cooperation potential in tourism, culture, and sports. He also looked forward to visiting Tianjin in the near future.
