On May 13, Ambassador Li Fan visited Tuzla, the third-largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During her visit, she met with Mayor Zijad Lugavić and Chair of the City Council Nataša Perić, and held exchanges with former Mayor Selim Bešlagić and Sead Đulić, President of the Tuzla Canton Association of Anti-Fascists and Veterans of the National Liberation War.

Ambassador Li noted that China and Bosnia and Herzegovina solemnly celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations last year, and that bilateral relations have maintained strong momentum. She emphasized that subnational exchanges constitute an important component of bilateral ties. Tuzla, she said, is a region known for ethnic integration and multicultural coexistence, having made historic contributions to the anti-fascist struggle and serving as one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's major industrial centers. China stands ready to actively promote exchanges between Tuzla and Chinese localities in such areas as trade, culture, and tourism, explore cooperation potential in green and digital economy sectors, and enhance local-level cooperation and people-to-people connectivity under the framework of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and China–Central and Eastern European Countries cooperation.

Mayor Lugavić and other local representatives briefed Ambassador Li on Tuzla's political and economic development. They noted that Tuzla was an important center of anti-fascist resistance in Bosnia and Herzegovina during World War II and, under the leadership of Josip Broz Tito, played a significant role in resisting fascist aggression. They also highlighted Tuzla's position as a major industrial city and expressed the hope of strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China in the fields of economy, science and technology, and culture, learning from China's experience in modernization and governance, and further deepening friendship between the two peoples.
