On January 18, in the historically and culturally renowned southern BiH city Mostar, the birthplace of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency Dragan Čović, the Youth Dance Ensemble of the Beijing Dance Academy held its first performance as part of their tour in five countries of Central and Eastern Europe, entitled “Happy Chinese New Year”. Chairman Čović and his wife and granddaughter, Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Bariša Čolak, BiH Justice Minister Josip Grubeša, BiH Defense Minister Marina Pendeš and Head of Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH Anto Jeleč also watched the show.
During their first performance in Mostar, “Happy Chinese New Year” received a warm welcome from the local population. In the Herceg-Stjepan Kosača Home, which has the capacity of 700 seats, not a single one was empty. The research repertoire Nuo - Emotion presented itself with a contemporary ethno-dance “Nuo”. The audience was fascinated by the powerful sounds of drums and special scenes of the play “Nuo”, and was strongly attracted by the mysterious and modest Chinese “Nuo” culture.
After the show, Chairman Čović congratulated on the successful performance and met with all the actors and crew. The spectators noted that the show Nuo - Emotion gave them a chance to enjoy the brilliant Chinese civilization. Ambassador Chen Bo organized a reception in the Home Herceg Stjepan Kosača, to celebrate the Chinese New Year with guests.
Before the performance, a spectacular fireworks are organized. Many people gathered in front of the Herceg Stjepan Kosača Home, while the fireworks lightened up the dark sky above Mostar. The whole city was in a festive atmosphere and in the spirit of Chinese New Year. Many Mostar citizens said that such fireworks have not been seen in the city for long and expressed their satisfaction for being able to share the festive joy with the Chinese people. They expressed wishes for China’s development and prosperity in the New Year.
Chairman Čović addressed the media and wished the Chinese people happy New Year, good health and best wishes.
